I have heard we on the shore of the Big O are cooler than those inland. ...As I arrived at Ruths unit the Secretary informed me that Ruths hair is getting too long and should be cut. Im so glad she and the other workers keep tabs on such things because, as a typical male, I wouldnt notice until it reached the floor :-) In response to this kind piece of data I scheduled a cut and perm at the Beauty Shoppe for her. ...We spent some time reading six more Birthday cards that came today. I estimate well over 50 came. While I read them Ruth munched the chocolate truffles that son Jon brought her for her Birthday with obvious delight. ...After the card and candy time I pushed her chair on our daily hall crawl. Lucy the cat was sitting on the hall computer stand staring into the screen as if she were reading it. No surprise, one would expect an outstanding Nursing Home to have a well educated cat :-) Today must have been Dog Day because sever ladies brought their pooches on leashes and made the rounds. ...We then ventured outside to soak in a little sun. The operative word is little because I dont want Ruth to get sun burned. ...Ruth was unable to utter a single word today. She uses her eyes and gestures to communicate. For example: as she journeyed along being pushed by her loyal vassal in her royal wheel chair she would greet everyone with a Queen-like hand wave. ...As the disease continues to take its awful toll, the essence that is Ruth still remains. Sweet and gentle as ever and for this I am grateful. ...This afternoon I will be attending grand daughter Aprils graduation party at Ontario Beach Park. It is especially hard for me to attend family milestone events without my Sweetheart.
