County Down is renowned for its coastal beauty and rich heritage. Tucked away along the shores of Strangford Lough is the Mount Stewart Stately Home which combines these two qualities in one grand estate. The Estate, which boasts celebrated gardens, is one of Northern Irelands most popular National Trust properties and has been the home of the Londonderry family of Newtownards since the 18th Century. The subject property is thought to have been built between the years 1810-1830 as a labourers cottage to the estate. The landowner, at that stage, believed in the welfare of his tenants by allocating generous plots of land where the tenants cultivated extensive vegetable gardens in the lush soil. This beautiful stone cottage holds much of its former charm and character which is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Although in need of extensive modernisation, we feel this is a very special property and therefore expect high levels of interest. 97 Newtownards Road, Greyabbey, lies within an area which is officially designated as being of outstanding natural beauty, on the shores of Strangford Lough. The lough is of international importance for wintering wildfowl, while the shores, woodland, meadows and marshes, together with well tended surrounding farmland provide a great diversity for nature conservation. Please arrange your viewing appraisal at your earliest convenience to help avoid disappointment.
