Dear Friends, In the near future I will be moving towards a new part of my life as a minister. I am still working on the denominational ordination process which will take a while, but I am excited, nervous and anxious all wrapped into one. Anxious and faith yes. It is not the lack of anxiety, but how you deal with it and who you turn to for guidance, wisdom and strength. I feel called to college and sport chaplaincy. My experience as a coach and educator will come to great value. I am excited about all the possibilities! In college I will be working with many different faiths and cultures. I have very good colleagues here from the American Samoa. Then there are others from around the world. Amongst the pictures I have attached I have attached a Christian Hakka….Now watch it through including the end. We need to break out of the box and see how the divine can be shared to all. We need to know others so to speak with them as equals full of respect. How many times have there been people yelling at College students about faith only to get hit in the face by a Boston Creme pie or an equivalent. We need to earn the respect to be heard and this means knowing those we serve and not yelling at them. The Haka I have attached is an example of how faith is expressed in another culture. I ask for prayers as I best discern how to connect as a minister with the communities I feel called to serve; colleges, universities, and sports. I am striving to become an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ.
