Despite our proven ability to keep up an impressive defense against KXL getting passed, the polls still show that most Americans support the pipeline. I think we are going after the wrong target. We can continue putting pressure on the President and members of Congress to stop this thing from rearing its head, but I think if we really want to kill this thing once and for all we need to go after the hearts & minds of the public. We are very close. 56% of Americans currently support KXL. I feel strongly that if we shifted our focus to getting that critical 4-10% to change their mind, we could get it done and over with already. Its worth noting too, that if Obama pursues executive action to provide deportation relief (and my friends working on immigrant rights say it looks like he will) the polls are in his favor. Only 48% of Americans are opposed to him taking executive action. The majority supports relief for the immigrant community. So lets chew on this climate friends. Do we really want to keep complaining that Obama doesnt reject it already, or do we want to shift the political climate so that a majority of Americans are on our side?
