Even though I deferred (dropped out) my Postgraduate course in Mass Communication at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication because I got disenfranchised by the hypocrisy of mainstream journalism, I still consider myself a journalist at heart. The three mandates of a journalist are: Inform, Educate and Entertain. I think I do a great hell of a job at that... My core values are: 1:Freedom: Live and let live. Let people be what they are. Everybody has a right to live as they choose as long as they dont harm others. They can harm themselves if they want to. 2: Respect: Everybody deserves to be treated with respect, even your enemy. Even if we disagree I still owe you respect. 3: Empowerment: You must lift others around you. You must transform your community. Empowerment is not only financial as most people think. Building another persons self esteem and sense of worth is the greatest form of empowerment. Never kick a brother when he is down. 4: Trust: After you empower a person, you must trust them to do what is right. Its a risk, Its a leap of faith. But the worst thing you can ever do is micro manage. People perform better when left to lead themselves...plus Im too lazy to micromanage.
