Ex-minister, Ishaku, emerges Taraba PDP gov candidate Immediate past Minister of State for Niger Delta, Darius Ishaku, has won the Taraba State governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Ishaku emerged winner in the exercise on Thursday night at the PDP national secretariat, Abuja, under the watchful eyes of the national leadership of the party. The election was delayed for almost five days, following the controversy over the zoning of the governorship and the list of delegates. Taraba PDP leaders and stakeholders had on Monday informed the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, of an agreement signed in 2011 by PDP leaders in the state that Taraba South Senatorial District would produce the PDP candidate in 2015. Taraba North had served for a total of 10 years while Taraba Central where the incumbent Governor Dambaba Suntai hailed from will complete eight years in power in 2015. Muazu had directed the PDP leaders, who gave him a copy of the resolution to also furnish him with the minutes of the meeting where the zoning arrangement was reached. He assured that the PDP national leadership would respect the decision of Taraba people since “zoning is local.”
