Exhibition of the Winners of the International Competition World Press Photo - 2014 in Bishkek The unique traveling exposition contains about 140 pictures that came out on top in the world most prestigious photojournalism competition World Press Photo. The citizens and gusts of Kyrgyzstan can come to visit the exhibition in Bishkek from 9 to 22 January 2015. World Press Photo is the most authoritative international annual photojournalism festival, which to a large extent drives the standards of this profession. Every year an international independent jury, which comprises the professional mass media photographers and photo editors, gave an appraisal in 9 nominations to the pictures exposed by photojournalists, agencies, newspapers and journals from all round the world. During two weeks jurymen examined more than 103 thousand photos of 5 666 photographers from 124 countries of the world. In February 2014 the 57-th Competition Final was held in Amsterdam. Every year after the competition results have been announced the exhibition of the photos that reflect the most important events of the previous year is exposed in Amsterdam during two months and then it goes on travels around the world. Every year about two million people visit the exhibition. In 2014 the exhibition was exposed on a record-breaking number of platforms — 105 galleries and museums in 45 countries. In Central Asia the exhibition is held for the second time: in December the photos were shown in Astana and Almaty and in January – in Bishkek. World Press Photo is an independent non-government organization, which was established in 1955 under the patronage of the prince of Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Organization provides a unique platform for independent photojournalism and free information exchange. World Press Photo operates with the assistance of Dutch Postcode Lottery. The exhibition sponsor all round the world is Canon. The Exhibition was brought to the Kyrgyz Republic with the assistance of the diplomatic missions of Kingdom of the Netherlands, Canada and Centre OSCE in Bishkek.
