FILL YOUR HOUSE WITH MUSIC I had a text message this morning that made my day. It read.. There was something you told me a couple of years ago which has remained a blessing to me till today. You simply told me FILL THE HOUSE WITH MUSIC, FILL YOUR LIFE WITH MUSIC You cannot just imagine the transformation that has brought to my home. God bless you so much Mr. Akesse. Im blessed to know you. Good morning As i read the message sent to me by a young lady i had the privilege to mentor at Pentecost University where i work, tears dropped from my eyes. I shed tears not because of the life Ive touched but for this simple reason... That is my testimony. Ive tried it and i know it to be true. I remember the young lady sharing with me very personal issues looming in her life at the time. The myriad of problems had left her depressed and unable to concentrate of her studies, fear had gripped her and kept her brooding on stuff she had no control over. After hearing her out, I simply asked her what kind of songs do you listen to? what have my problems got to do with the songs i listen to anyway?... she retorted. I simply laughed. I shared with her some of the issues Ive had to battle with and how i overcame. Guess what... I did it by filling the house with gospel music. Spirits travel through conduits called Mediums and one of the mediums through which spirits travel is music. The prophet Elisha when he needed the Holy Spirit to come upon him, ordered for a minstrel to be brought to him. ..bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him. 2nd Kings 3:15 Bible also speaks of David playing for an evil spirit to leave Saul ...David took the lyre and strummed a tune. Saul got relief [from his terror] and felt better, and the evil spirit left him. 1Samuel 16:23 it is no coincidence that even fetish priests need some form of music to come under the influence of their gods. Music, my friends, is as spiritual as it is physical. In fact music like a human being, is tripartite (3 in 1) consisting of the body, soul and spirit. The body of music is the rhythm and It is therefore the part the human body responds to. For instance there are body movements that goes with the Agwadza, adowa or boboobo rhythms. The soul of music is the melody. The melody like the human soul carries the emotions of the music. so the musical terminology soulful means emotional. There are different emotions that different melodies can invoke. So we have happy songs and sad songs which are basically distinguished by their melodies (soul). In Ghana there is a particular melody played on the atenteben (palm flute) that speaks of the demise of someone important in society whenever it is heard on radio. It invokes so much sorrow. There is a reason some melodies make you happy and others make you cry even without words. Then there is the most important and most powerful part of music, the spirit of music which is the lyrics. Words are spirits and they carry so much power. In John 6:63 Jesus said.. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. You see friends, music will demand your physical and emotional response to what it carries in the spirit (lyrics) be it love, mercy, forgiveness, violence, hatred or lust. Music releases into the atmosphere the spirit that inspired it, which same spirit it carries and it does not need your permission to invade your life. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21 That is the reason Christians who entertain secular music in their lives never stop fighting some unnecessary battles. Are you struggling with some form of addiction,spiritual attack, depression, etc,. Fill your life with Holy Ghost filled christian music and your life will automatically respond to the things of God. The atmosphere around you will shift and the Spirit of God will invade your life. Be Lifted AB
