FP2 RESULTS: After his early retirement in FP1, Lewis Hamilton was able to pip his team-mate Nico Rosberg to be fastest at the end of day one in Melbourne. Both Mercedes drivers were able to get themselves into the 1 minute 29 second margin whilst Fernando Alonso missed out by half a second. Sebastian Vettel completed the most laps in the second free practice session as he in his much improved RB10 were fourth fastest behind the Mercedes and Ferrari. Problems again for the Lotus team where Romain Grosjean was able to set a lap time, however was not out on track for very long. His team-mate Pastor Maldonado was unable to set a time. And both Caterhams didnt make it far either with Swedish rookie Marcus Ericsson managing to complete an installation lap and his team-mate Kamui Kobayashi not even making it out of the garage.
