From the City of Fort Walton Beach - At approximately 8:00 a.m. on May 1, 2014, the City of Fort Walton Beach experienced a sanitary sewer overflow at their emergency storage tank at Pump Station No. 1 on Robinwood Drive SW. This overflow is a direct result of the historic rain event that occurred in the region during the past two days. While a majority of the overflow is contained onsite, it is expected that a portion of this overflow will make its way into Santa Rosa Sound near Sound Park across from City Hall. City personnel are monitoring the status of the wastewater collection system and are working as quickly as possible toward community and environmental restoration. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution near this body of water and to report any potential sanitary sewage overflow within the City by calling the City at (850) 833-9500 or the Okaloosa County Health Department at (850) 833-9247. For updates, please continue monitoring fwb.org.
