GOD ALLOWED THE PAIN THANK HIM FOR IT: “It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes.” Psalm 119:71 A child went through a painful medical treatment for his health condition, and after the treatment, he said to the doctor, “Thank you for the pain” The child thanked the doctor for the pain because he had been told by his parents that the painful treatment would be for his good and because the doctor wanted him well. This same thing was applicable to this Psalmist who appreciated the affliction in his life, not because the affliction was a pleasure but because the painful affliction brought about good purpose in his life, he said “It is good for me that I have been afflicted” The same thing should be applicable to every child of God, the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “in everything give thanks”, and the Bible also says in Ephesians 5:20 that we should thank God for everything. How should we thank God in everything and for everything? We are eager to thank God in pleasant situations, for profits and progress but not in a painful situation. Why should we thank God for the pain? We are to thank God for the pain because He has already made it clear to us that everything works together for our good, Romans 8:28, the pleasant things, profitable things and alsothe painful things - all work together for our good, that was the reason the Psalmist could testified that “It is good for me that I have been afflicted” If you trust God as a good God,that should not change either in pleasant or in painful situation. But if you only see God as a good God when things are good and “Why God” when things are not pleasant, it means you do not totally trust God with all your heart. As long you have surrendered your life to Jesus Christ and you love Him by obedience toHim, then you need not to be worried, weak or weary in painful time, because everything is seriously working for your good. Much timewe ignore this important truth of life that what matters most is the end of a thing, the end result, not the beginning of a thing. Here is the Word of Most High God in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expectedend.” When we pass through pain, we may tend to feel God has no good thoughts for us,“why should He allow this to happen to us” but God reaffirms to us that His thoughts for us are good, to give us our expected end. Youmay not have the expected beginning in your marital life, in your matrimonial home, in your health, in your ministry, in your business, etc., an expected beginning does not really matter, what matter most for you is what God is afterfor you, and that is an expected end. Thank God in everything, even though it is painful now; if you trust and obey Him, the sorrow will turn to joy, the lost will turn to gain, the pain will turn to pleasure, and the late will turn to latest. Do not worry, do not wander, do not turn weak or weary, but wait on the Lord, and while you wait, thank Him in EVERYTHING because He is busy working EVERYTHING for your good, that is the reason you have not seen or heard something from God recently, He is busy working everything for your good. Keep thanking Him, keep trusting Him and keep His word till the end when your expected end will come through. “For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. 11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins. 12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.” Psalm 66:10-12. HAVE A COURAGEOUS WEEK-END!
