God’s rest for the troubled world “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”(Matthew 11: 28) Is there a solution to the troubles of this world? The standard is falling every day and the bubble is about to blast. No one can solve the world’s problem! The world has drifted from its Creator. In its wisdom and knowledge has invented devices to destroy itself. It has driven and pushed itself to the extreme, just at the brink of collapse. This was and is the situation why Jesus offered to help. The only step that can take you out of this troubled world is to release your burden in order to receive His yoke. He takes off your burden and places His yoke on you. What does He do with your burden? He destroys it, no matter the nature and how long you have been carrying them. ‘Take my yoke’ is a Jewish metaphor for discipline and discipleship. Are you willing to be yoked with Jesus? What do you stand to gain by putting on His yoke? The yoke essentially ushers you into freedom and liberty. Thus, you are empowered by His Spirit not only to escape the trouble of this world but also to have the taste of heaven. You have to be consistent with it, otherwise the burden might come back. Jesus Christ is the way to God. He delivers and will deliver believers who wait on Him till the end from God’s fiery judgment. He is the revelation of God. He reveals the Father and according to His promise, I believe and conclude that He has the power to give us rest. Father, I receive the yoke of Jesus. And I break off the burden of this world. Nothing will separate me from you, in Jesus name. Amen
