Good Morning. Unless we are willing to love the Lord with all our - TopicsExpress

Good Morning. Unless we are willing to love the Lord with all our heart, we will never love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Responding to a question about the commandments Jesus said on Mark 12:30, 31 – “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” When we read the response Jesus gives to this question, the commandments appear very simple. And yes they are very simple. At the centre of the commandments is love. Love for God and love for your neighbor. This morning I would like for us focus abit on the section of the commandment which says, “with all”. What does this phrase really mean? The Strong’s Concordance defines the word “all” as “whole, completely”. When it comes unto loving God “Every single ounce of us must be emptied out”. Notice very carefully that God wants us to love Him completely with our heart, soul, mind and strength. The heart is “denotes the centre of all physical and spiritual life”. The soul is “the seat of the feelings, desires, affections, aversions (our heart, soul etc.)”. The Mind is “a faculty of understanding, feeling, desiring”. Strength is “ability, force, and might”. Every single part of our being must be involved in loving God. Unless we love God this way, we cannot love our neighbor as ourselves. I pray that we will continue to allow the Holy Spirit to help us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Our love for God will propel us into the Kingdom of God.
