HELP **Kirkwood Open Winter Fun Shows**- the decision is apparently purely financial and is coming from President Mick Starcevich in Kirkwood Hall room 310 @ 6301 Kirkwood Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404 Phone: 319-398-5501 Email: [email protected] and the Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Jim Choate in Kirkwood Hall room 226 Phone: 319-398-7612 Alternate Phone: 319-551-2207 or 319-398-5555 Email: [email protected] They have effectively shoved Nellie & the students out so that they can put Liz Lindner, IEC Center Assistant (she was appointed so this is not her fault) in charge of Open Fun Shows FOR PROFIT for the college only- not to benefit students directly at all! The students will be forced to work the shows, but will not be rewarded with the Florida trip or be paid adequately! They intend to raise ALL FEES- stalls will go from $35 to $55, class fees will go up, and other fees will be added so that we (most of us poor open show people) can no longer afford to show. This is a monetary decision that Mick is not even open to talking with anyone about until the August board meeting. No consideration was given to the effect on our community or students!!! Please make sure you share this, send Mick & Jim your thoughts and MAKE SURE that the media knows what is being done to this local tradition in the name of money!!!! The local news loves to come out and shoot the shows- let them get our (the horse community) story out! LETS FORCE MICK TO TALK ABOUT IT BEFORE AUGUST!!!!
