Hello Family!! I went to a genealogy conference this past - TopicsExpress

Hello Family!! I went to a genealogy conference this past weekend and attended a session on dna testing. The speaker said that if you are doing the yDNA (only males can do the yDNA) that you should choose a test that has at least 67 markers. Anything less than that, is too general to be of use for genealogy. Also, regarding the question about why Native American ancestry is not showing up in DNA testing, it is because not many Native Americans have done the DNA testing and they are reluctant to do so. The DNA companies cannot test our DNA against Native American if they dont have enough Native Americans in the database. Just some info for those of you thinking of buying a test. :)
