Hello everyone! Littleman and I are caught in a quandary. He has blown his right rear ACL, xrays show that he has degenerative arthritis in the knee and some arthritis is that hip as well. My vet has referred me to an ortho vet in Asheville. I read about the surgery and it is extremely invasive, 6-8 weeks of confinement post op, and return to normal in 3-4 months. The surgery was TOPL. My vet also mentioned Adequan injections and Pt as an alternative therapy. The TOPL description on the vets website said that dogs normally blow the other rear knee in 12-18 months (30-40%). I have an appt with the ortho vet on the 28th. I wanted to know if anyone has experience with this injury? And what course you took. Any info would be appreciated. God Bless! Sheltiemama. :-/
