Heres the building where Babe Hardy first worked as a projectionist from 1910-13 (its the one marked The Red Door - Antiques). It was then called the Palace Theater, and it is correctly noted on a historical marker in Milledgeville. It has often been thought (by me and others!) that Babe worked at The Electric Theater, and there was such a venue in Milledgeville, on Hancock Street. A 1910 census gives Babes occupation as Electrician - Electric Theater. Evidently the census taker thought of all movie theaters or nickelodeons as electric theaters, so this was a generic name, not a specific one. The Palace, at 133 S. Wayne, was indeed right across the street from the hotel that Babes mother managed, which was on the corner of South Wayne and East Greene streets. cinematreasures.org/theaters/16630
