Hey my delicious geeky buddies... I have an idea and I want to - TopicsExpress

Hey my delicious geeky buddies... I have an idea and I want to know if this is a good idea or a nutty idea. Problem 1: I have a Wordpress installation with nearly 1000 posts and about fifty pages. Right now, on shared hosting, its a little slow. Some page loads on the order of ten or more seconds. Ive switched to a flat HTML site to solve some of this. :/ Problem 2: I want to run OpenProject, which is a lovely online project management tool, which wont run under my shared hosting (I dont get sudo access to the server). Note: both problems are non showstoppers. That is to say, if this is the best I can do, well, okay, Ill work with what I got. Possible solution: I have a fiber optic connection to my house and a Zotac Zbox Ci540 Nano. It claims I can install whatever OS I want on it. So, my question: Is it a reasonable bang-for-my-buck (by buck I include maintenance time) idea to connect this little gem to my wall router and use it to host my Wordpress site and my OpenProject site and expect those to run faster and somewhat safer and more predictably than on a shared hosting site? Or would I be asking for a world of hurt trying to keep a whole server up and running and well-buttressed, just so I can have a faster WordPress experience? What things should I be considering here?
