Hi Everyone, Im writing to let you know about a VERY important - TopicsExpress

Hi Everyone, Im writing to let you know about a VERY important meeting coming up about Measure H fund. IF YOU WANT TO EVEN CONSIDER A NEW PERFORMANCE SPACE AT LINCOLN, YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP. Here is the invite from the District. SJUSD will host a districtwide community meeting on Tuesday, October 14, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Gunderson High, which is located at 622 Gaundabert Lane in San José. At this meeting, parents and community members will have the opportunity to reiterate to the school district the capital projects they believe the school district should pay attention to and provide any other comments regarding Measure H funds. This meeting is the next step in engaging SJUSD parents and community members in this process after the meetings held throughout September at all local schools. You are welcome to attend the districtwide meeting and provide your input. Why is this important? Pioneer and Willow Glen Parents are FULLY mobilized to get a Performing Arts Facility for their campus or immediate area and the rumors are they may be succeeding. They have started a HUGE campaign to get a facility built in their neighborhood or campus. WE MUST DO THE SAME. I know this is short notice but if we dont speak up, no one will think we want a new space and Ill seriously need to retire early if our shows arent on a NEW stage built in this school district. The Lincoln High School theatre neighborhood is the first and ONLY place that a new performance facility should be constructed. I dont need to tell you that our performance curriculum is lacking this important educational tool. For far too many years, actually decades, weve been making things work gloriously in a box. True, we love our box, but life at Lincoln Performing Arts will be a lot more smooth if we could all perform on campus. It should be an embarrassment to our district that we have such an award winning program with so many illustrious alumni performing world wide and yet there is a chance well be passed by. I would like to request that you please try to go to this meeting and get to the mic. You can ask them questions but what they really need to hear is THE LINCOLN, HOOVER AND TRACE PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOLS AND THEIR COMMUNITY SHOULD BE FIRST CONSIDERED WHEN IT COMES TO BUILDING A PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN THE SAN JOSE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEN USING MEASURE H FUNDS. Simple. We need it. Well use it. Our curriculum demands it. Hope that you make it. If you cant, feel free to email our Board Member, Rich Garcia to let him know how you feel and feel free to cc our Superintendent, Dr. Vincent Matthews. garcia65@aol [email protected] Best, Chuck Manthe
