How is your communion with God? Is it as strong as you want it to be? If not, who is the weak link? Are you two as close as you want to be? If not, who moved away? Hebrews 12:1 states, Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,. These encumbrances keep us from proper communion with God. Some of these things are not sin in of themselves but misused become sinful. Distraction, deception, discouragement and division are the devices that the enemy uses to keep us away from true communion with God. The New Testament church planter Paul said, Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth (Colossians 3:2). The next part of that sentence from Hebrews 12 gives us some focus, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfected of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
