I have raised money for a lot of things in my career, but none are - TopicsExpress

I have raised money for a lot of things in my career, but none are more important than the goal that is now set before me. For those that dont know, our mom, Pam Dieter Lowe, was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago. She will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks, followed by surgery and radiation. During this time, her immune system will be compromised and she likely wont be able to work. She currently works three jobs as the crossing guard at Bower, a bit of everything at Fontanas and running the Warrenville Cemetery. While many of us are fortunate enough to have disability insurance or paid time off or sick days, our Mom doesnt have the luxury of calling in sick and still getting a paycheck. After meeting with financial counselors today, we know the minimum immediate out-of-pocket expenses for her treatment are $11,000. I have 717 Facebook friends. $10 from each of you would put us at $7,170. Victoria Lowe Mulacek has 225 friends, putting us at an additional $2,250 and bringing the total to $9,420. We have witnessed firsthand the power of a collective group of people before and I know it can happen here too. Ive asked you to run in 5Ks, to donate to a silent auction, to support any cause Ive ever believed in. But this cause, this one is different. This is our world, our mom, our everything. So, if you have two minutes and an extra $10, were asking for your help. $10...thats the equivalent of 1.5 days of Starbucks, a pretty cheap glass of wine at a good restaurant, three gallons of gas. It all seems quite small but, to us, its a lifetime of memories, of mom getting to watch her grandchildren grow, of the kids at Bower still having Miss Pam to cross them, of looking back a year from now and closing the chapter that was breast cancer in our lives and moving forward with an unending sense of gratitude. To those of you have given, thank you. To those of you who want to give but dont have the means, please just keep her in your thoughts and prayers and, to those who choose to make a gift after reading this, know you have our deepest gratitude as we fight the good fight!
