I think its pretty clear 3-5-2 does not work in the Premier - TopicsExpress

I think its pretty clear 3-5-2 does not work in the Premier League. Its too defensive, and involves too many back passes. I think we can all admit that the games we won at Arsenal and Southampton were pretty much about luck. I think Van Gaal should not be afraid to bench big players, if they are not needed in the team. (Rvp, Mata) The best formation which suits United is the 4-4-2 diamond (which LvG tried and worked well), or the 4-2-3-1. Valencia on one wing, Di Maria on the other, Rooney behind the striker Falcao OR RvP. Either one of Falcao or RvP. Since RvP looks nowhere near regaining his old form, Falcao should be started. Unfortunately, Matas place in the lineup is limited to the no.10 position only. He CANNOT play on the wing. Will have to sacrifice him, by keeping him on the bench and using him only when Rooney is unavailable. Blind at the left wing back has impressed more than Shaw at the same position. LvG is trying to mimic the formation he used at Holland, with Di Maria playing Robbens role. Unfortunately, hes a different type of player, he must be used at the wing to get the most out of him. Brining Nani back is a possibility too, perhaps Van Gaal can make him the player he was in 2010-2011. My opinions. Feel free to share yours.
