I want to share this message that Naghmeh Abedini, wife of Pastor Saeed Abedini sent in an email to her subscribers. It has encouraged me, and let it encourage you...... Over the last two years I have had many highs and lows. Many of those have been low and disappointing times. I have been heart broken, felt hopeless, and worn. Each time I have taken my heavy and disappointed heart to the Lord, and He has gently and lovingly spoken to me and exposed to me how easily my heart has strayed from Him. How I have turned my eyes from Him and looked to situations, circumstances, and people instead of looking to Him. Over the years I have learned to enjoy those times of despair as perfect opportunities to present myself and my heart to the Lord and re-callibrate it back to Him (2 Corinthians 12:10). Many of you have ministered to me. And I felt led to share this with you and hopefully minister to you in some small way. I want you to examine your fears, disappointments, and pains and take them to the Lord. Are you afraid of losing someone or something (work, ministry, possession)? Are you finding your fulfillment in these things? Have they become your purpose….your idol? Would you question God and even question His existence if you lost those things or were not able to attain them? God is using the exact situations or people that are bringing you the greatest heartbreak, disappointment, and pain to draw you close to Him. God is looking for you to discover your ultimate need and dependency on Him. He is looking for a deeper intimacy with you. He wants to reveal so much more of Himself to you. The ministry, people and situations are all tools for God to draw us closer to Him. If they become the purpose, then it is dangerous. We are to have our hands wide open and in a life style and heart condition that is completey dependent on God. We have to remember that it does not stop there. Once we enter into a deeper intimacy with God and are able to drink of His Goodness, Mercy, Grace and Love, then we have the strength and power to face those difficult situations and people and to forgive and love sacrificially. It can only happen through dying to our selfish flesh and clinging to Jesus to give us the power to go against our very nature and love radically and sacrificially.
