If you plan on coming down to visit Battleship Cove next week, please take note of Mass DOTs notice of work in the area: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s contractor for the Route 79/Braga Bridge Improvements Project, Barletta Heavy/O&G Joint Venture, will remove the portion of the elevated Route 79 over the intersection of Anawan Street/Pocasset Street and Davol Street from Tuesday, April 22 through Friday, April 25. To avoid noise impacts associated with night work, the demolition will take place during the day. Police traffic details will intermittently stop traffic in the immediate vicinity during the work, for no more than 12 minutes at a time. MassDOT encourages drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. Drivers who must travel through the affected area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
