Im probably opening a can of worms but........WV has a Safe Haven - TopicsExpress

Im probably opening a can of worms but........WV has a Safe Haven Law that allows a baby to be dropped off in a safe location if the caregiver cannot care for it adequately without legal consequences yet it appears that many are critical and judgmental of someone who had enough insight to say I cant do it. At least that person did not keep the baby in an unsafe, dysfunctional, abusive, traumatizing environment or shake it to death out of sheer frustration that can come from not knowing what to do or where to turn. Although it is not something that I even THINK I would ever do, I have never walked in those shoes so I cannot say that with 100% certainty. No one can until you actually experience it. I havent missed a meal and Ive always had a great roof over my head. A job, nice vehicle, supportive family and friends, nice clothes, spending money, assistance with childcare. I thank God I have not been so very desperate and hopeless but more importantly I thank Him that someone told me about Jesus and that I do have somewhere to turn in time of need. Rather than shame or judge we need to pray that the person who relinquished the baby knows about Jesus or soon finds out about Him. I feel certain that Gods hedge of protection has been around this baby longer than we can imagine and that He will bless a new family beyond expectations. It is easy to unwittingly condemn and judge others. It reminds me of a message I heard recently that sin often starts in our lives similar to a papercut.....we often attain one unknowingly and go on until it starts to sting or becomes infected. Then we have a real problem. We need to very cautious in our opinions of others......... It is amazing that God immediately forgives our sins when we ask but we dont want to give each other the slightest benefit of the doubt. Just sayin..........
