In light of RSD month, I need the help of all the Illinois RSD - TopicsExpress

In light of RSD month, I need the help of all the Illinois RSD ptratients and their friends and families. Rep. Lou Lang is trying to amend the Illinois Medical Marijuana Act to include new forms of the medication (edibles, resins, etc.) and to also allow Veterans access. That is fine. BUT apparently he has decided he has to concede something from his win, those very many CRPS/RSD supporters helped him to win with the first time, he is now saying they should not be able to get medical marijuana because we might allow for abuse. None of the other people with ailments are singled out, just us. Then he goes on to say that causalgia patients will still be covered. According to the NIH.gov, causalgia doesnt really exist anymore. There are two types of CRPS. RSD is also no longer the correct language. There is only CRPS-I and CRPS-II (type II was what used to be known as causalgia). Again the NIH.gov says that both types treatments and symptoms are identical. In his bill amendment he states Unfortunately, SB 1955 would also remove two qualifying medical conditions – RSD and CRPS – which opponents believe might allow for abuse. However, causalgia would remain as a condition. The opponents that he is speaking of hardly seem fully educated on the disease itselfcis. Saying causalgia will remain illness for treatment means CRPS-II is viable for treatment. The NIH.gov says that Type I and Type II share identical symptoms and treatments. Therefore, it makes mo sense that one group would be more sensitive to abuse than the other group. Many, many doctors offices do not even classify their patients between type I and II. There is something fishy going on and I suspect it is a trade off needed to be made to make someone feel like they were getting something back off the list as a feel good gesture and a decision was made to look at who had the least number of people affected by any of these illness RSD/CRPS fit the bill. Once again they decided we didnt matter. There arent thousands of them and they are all too sick to stand up for themselves. Lets get rid of them. They are the easiest. We are also the likeliest to be in the greatest pain and we will love that way for the rest of our lives with increasing pain. This medicine is one of the most amazing medicines for our particular ailment. It reduced our spasming muscles. It reduced the frozen muscles we have. It allows us to actually relax the muscles that are clenched so tightly around every joint and bone in our body in a natural reflective stance to try to protect our bodies from the constant pain we feel. When that happens we can actually sleep. It is like a miracle. We campaigned heavily for this original bill to pass for ourselves and others who suffer. I ask you to pass this along and contact Rep. Lou Langs office at 847-673-1131. Call his office and leave a message saying that you believe this is wrong. There are no medical studies that show that RSD/CRPS patients have a great substance abuse issue with medical marijuana than any other group. I know that people with CRPS just want to feel good enough to get moving and be care of their daily home tasks, clean their houses, do their laundry, and cook their meals. Most of us cant even do that because of our pain. The last thing we are looking to do is get stoned and sit around. We want to get out and move around and be participating in life again.
