In the second quarter of last year, SBS transit recorded a 7% increase in revenue from its bus services to make a total of $159 million that quarter. These positive results were seen during a time when proposed fare hikes were rejected and they were achieved thanks to population growth meaning more commuters. When the population increase has already allowed PTOs to make more revenue, why is it necessary to also raise fares?
