It seems to me that it is time to have an elected state official - TopicsExpress

It seems to me that it is time to have an elected state official removed from office. It is unclear to me whether interfering with another elected officials ability to fulfill the office they were elected to is an impeachable offense; but it seems to me that it should be sufficient cause to legally remove such an elected official from office. I also believe that it is time to shut down the CECI and eliminate its overpaid staff. The following is quoted from the Indiana Election Division document Referendum, Recall, Impeachment, And Initiative [My comment on the wording of the document: it states . . .requirements include. . . but apparently does not list all requirements for impeachment. If these are all the reasons then making it virtually impossible for another elected official to fulfill the duties of the office to which they were elected must be perfectly legal.] What is “impeachment”? Impeachment is the removal of a person from office by the state legislature or by a circuit court for committing a crime. (IC 5-8-1) Can elected officials be removed from office in some other way? Yes. If an elected official is not eligible to hold the office since the official does not comply with a specific requirement under state law. These requirements include not being convicted of a felony (IC 5-8-3); not being habitually intoxicated (IC 5-8-2); and continuing to reside in the election district the person represents (IC 36-2-3-5, for example). If an elected official does not meet these requirements, then an interested person can file a lawsuit in court to have the official removed. The court must then decide whether the complaints made by the interested person are true, and whether or not the official should be removed from office.
