Its been a fun trip, out to Carlsbad Caverns and back. Not without its snags, though. Gas out of El Paso, Texas going east on hwy 62... Found some after asking a kindly lady at a roadside cafe where to go. She sent me to a little wide spot in the road, thirteen miles off hwy 62, called Dell City. Sure enough Dell city had gas. One grade, regular. That was okay. The population of this teeming metropolis? 418 souls. Price of gas per gallon? $3.35. In the absolute middle of nowhere. Here in CA $4.00 a gallon and up. So. Past the Guadalupe mountains, with some spectacular cliffs. Into Whites City, at the entrance to Carlsbad Caverns park. Got there Friday evening. Waited until Sabbath to visit the caves. If youve never been, I strongly suggest you find the time someday to go! Next: a major hailstorm, and the trip home.
