JOB POSTING: Position Title: Veterinary Client Service Consultant Classification: Full-Time Date: January 2015 Summary: Veterinary Client Service Consultant provides quality client services in-person and by telephone for the veterinary services and other ancillary services of the Red Roof Fort Lee Animal Hospital. This position is responsible for facilitating the administrative and customer service needs of both the medical staff and the general public. Essential Duties and Functions: General Duties • Maintain a full schedule of appointments and ensure that clients have been scheduled appropriately • Produce and maintain accurate medical records and reports. Record client information and correspondence using a computerized data entry system (e.g. Cornerstone) • Perform general clerical duties including: data entry projects such as generating reminders, generating mailings, researching medical records; communication with other veterinary hospitals; and online research • Develop and maintain a cooperative and productive working relationship Hospital Front Desk • Greet, register, and invoice clients • Explain invoices to show value for the care provided, stating all services and products provided before the total • Collect payment when services are rendered, including making change for cash payments, processing credit cards and getting proper ID for checks • Assist the doctors and technical staff with client interaction and flow of patients through the hospital • Create estimates and speak to clients about available financial programs while maintaining client confidentiality • Maintain clean and orderly appearance of the front desk areas, including lobbies and exam rooms • Duties may include shifts in the pharmacy dispensing medications and providing client information • Provide courteous and informative customer service for hospital calls as well as directing other incoming calls to appropriate departments • Provide information to the public about hospital programs • Display veterinary medical products at the front desk area and control inventory Customer Service • Practice and encourage the humane treatment of animals • Communicate with the clientele regarding the availability of prescription food and process invoices as needed for these clients • Provide quality customer service to clients and staff while actively promoting our mission, services, programs and events • Promote donation and giving opportunities as appropriate Education and Experience (Required): • Two years of college coursework preferably with an emphasis on animal-related science. Qualifying work experience will be considered as an alternative • Experience working as a veterinary assistant or equivalent required Salary and Benefits: The starting salary for this position depends on the depth and breadth of experience. Regular, full-time positions are eligible. Physical Requirements and Work Environments: • Work is performed in animal hospital setting • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and climbing stairs to facilitate client care • Regular sitting at a computer workstation 6-8 hrs per day to input patient data • Exposure to disinfectant solutions when in kennel & treatment areas • Subject to animal bites and scratches while handling animals • Consistent exposure to animals and animal allergens under conditions with limited alternatives available • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations • Exposure to X-rays while assisting staffs and animals Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and success of the Fort Lee Animal Hospital • Strong computer skills including; word processing, spreadsheets and ability to master veterinary software • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills • Flexibility, adaptability and a strong work ethic • Professional attitude and appearance The RED ROOF Fort Lee Animal Hospital requires pre-employment drug testing and background check if necessary.
