JV Falcons split with the Richland Bombers tonight, 1-2 and 4-3! The Falcons managed to score their only run on just three hits in Game 1, thanks to a sharply hit ball to the shortstop by Trevor Smith that scored Matt True from third in the bottom of the 5th inning. Game 2 saw better action from the Falcon bats, beginning with Grant Cowens 2 RBI single, with 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Richland answered back in the top of 3, tying the game at 2-2. Conner Suteys double over the left fielders head scored Dustin Sealock all the way from first base, to make it a 3-2 ballgame. Tied 3-3 heading into the bottom of the 6th, the Falcons had 4 hits, but got caught stealing twice in a row at second base by the Bombers stud-catcher, Colin Doyle. ;) With 2 outs and the bases loaded, Jason Serkowski hit a single up the middle to score the go ahead run for the Falcons. Sutey started on the mound in Game 2, and pitched 5 solid innings; Trevor Hammitt relieved in the 6th inning, clinching the win for the Falcons in the top of 7 with 2 strikeouts and a ground ball to third baseman Josh Betzsold, who made the looooong throw to first for the final out of the ballgame. The split tonight brings the JV Falcons record to 15-1 and they will face Kamiakin at home for 2 games this Saturday, May 3rd; Game 1 starts at 11:00 am!
