Kogi APC set to receive PDP defectors The Kogi State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, has said the party was set to receive defected members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold. Ametuo said the PDP members were from the central senatorial district of the state. “Many have joined the party from Adavi Local Government Area and more are planning to join APC from Okene Local Government Area very soon,” he stated. He also said since last year some prominent politicians in the state including the former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Clarence Olafemi, left PDP for APC. Ametuo who spoke to Daily Independent on phone stated that APC was set to form the next government in Lugard House in 2016 based on the number of people that are coming to join the party across the state. As part of the strategy to further reposition the party for future elections Ametuo stated that the party has set up both contact and mobilisation committees to reach out to the grassroots across the three zones of the state. He described the rumour being spread by some people that the former Governor of the State and leader of the party, Prince Abubakar Audu was planning to join PDP as baseless and unfounded. “The man has never been in PDP; all his life time in politics he remains in opposition, Moreover, he is comfortable and not hungry”.
