MARK YOUR CALENDAR: The Manship Theatre at The Shaw Center for the Arts is bringing a stand up comedy tour that works with local animal welfare organizations in the cities it plays. Raise the Woof gives a voice to animals through laughter while spreading awareness and helping raise funds. This fun-filled evening will feature a three-comedian show starring John Wessling, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and cash bar. All proceeds from the evening will benefit Spay Baton Rouge. From South Texas, headliner John Wessling has traveled the globe and is one of only three comedians ever to perform in all 50 states in 50 consecutive days. In 2003 John was a semi-finalist on Last Comic Standing season two and then a stand-out performer in the New Faces showcase at the 2004 Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. John performed in the Comedy Central Roast of Jeff Foxworthy and in 2006 appeared in the first season of Comedy Central’s LIVE at GOTHAM. He has also opened in sold-out theaters across the US for George Lopez, Carlos Mencia, Larry the Cable Guy, Jon Lovitz and Norm McDonald.
