Mai Joyce Simeti a Star! It is a truth universally acknowledged, that time is the revealer of all things good and bad, we find that all good things, gold, diamonds and all the other minerals we know and admire and use have gone through a process of time and their value also accrues in time. This article is to celebrate, one such star, a rare precious stone and bring it to appreciation and to the light of our conscience, Joyce Simpo Simeti. Just like time has revealed the value of minerals, time has also been kind in revealing and adding value to Joyce Simpo Simeti who has proved to be a heroine, star, and a great performer not only in the gospel music but in the arts industry. Born 40 years ago on the 19th of November in Mutoko Joyce has proved to be a living testimony. She started singing in 2002 and to date she has released 7 albums. She is the leading brains behind the hit songs Kudza Baba na Mai”. In 2011 Joyce produced an album,”Makandinzwa” with hit tracks like “Dai Ndiri kupi?”, “kudza Baba na Mai”, “Mabasa akanaka”, “Mutsvene”, “Ndakanga ndisipo” and “Rudo”. Last year, in 2013, she released the album “Anozvigonesa” with the title track including “Mapatya”, “Ndaropafadzwa”, “Munondinamatira”, “Kuchema”, and “Rudo rwenyu Mhamha”. She is a board member of Zimbabwe Music Rights Association, a patron of Open Tribe Foundations, and a friend of Harare Children’s Home. This gospel diva can compose songs for any occasion, she has previously done songs for the UFIC Judgment Night, Prophet Makandiwa’s birthday, and the song “Rudo rwenyu Mhamha” is dedicated to Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa. In the song she appreciates her for her unconditional love and her charity work. Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa who is celebrating her birthday on the 4th of September usually celebrates this day with orphans, widows, and the elderly. Not only is Joyce a singer, composer and a hand in charity, but Joyce is also a fashionista and an impeccable fashion designer being the director of Joysmart Pvt Ltd. There is no limit to her creativity, designing African attires, Men suits, shirts and any design her clients desire. Joyce Simeti amazed the congregation at the UFIC Blessed Day with a heartfelt rendition of Munondinamitira”, where she entered the auditorium on a stretcher, at the aide of “doctors”, all this just to dramatize how God delivered her from her death bed. She gives credit to Prophet and Prophetess Makandiwa, her husband and dotting fans, friends and family, for praying for her and thanks God for answering their prayers. She also gratefully thanked Sekuru and Gogo Makandiwa and Sekuru and Gogo Makawa for being the Biological parents and rearing the Great Prophets, Prophet Emmanuel and Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, the founders of UFIC. In a telephone interview with Honorable Marowa he confirmed a bash which has been rightly dubbed “JOYCE AT 40” scheduled for 22nd November 2014 with various artistes scheduled to perform on this great event. Asked about this bash, one of these artistes Rumbi Gatawa said “life begins at 40, we want to thank God for Mai Simeti’s life, and we believe it’s also time for us Christians to appreciate our own people” This is promising to be a great and fantastic event indeed and I for one can’t wait for it!!
