Merced police reported a brief pursuit around 1 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Bear Creek that ended with two arrests. Sgt. Tony Aponte said police pursued the driver of a car that was reported stolen on Christmas. The driver, later identified as Jerardo Ceja, 27, left the car on foot in the 2500 block of East South Bear Creek Drive and tried to run through Bear Creek, police said. Aponte said police arrested both Ceja and the passenger, Crystal Ramirez, 24, who did not flee the vehicle. Both were booked into the the Merced County jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
