NOTICE of RACE 8th CENTRAL- SOUTH AMERICAN LASER MASTER CHAMPIONSHIPS 20.03.2012 – 22.03.2012 To be held and organized by Buzios Vela Clube, Buzios, RJ, Brasil in co-operation with the Associação Brasileira da Classe Laser and the Confederação Brasileira de Vela 1 RULES 1.1.1 The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). 1.1.2 No National Authority prescriptions will apply. 1.1.3 Appendix-P will apply, except for P5 1.2 If there is a conflict between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions (SI’s), the SI’s shall take precedence. 1.3 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence. 2 ADVERTISING 2.1 ISAF Regulation 20 - Advertising Code- shall apply. 2.2 Competitors may be required to carry advertising for event sponsors. 3 VENUE The event will be based at the Búzios Vela Clube (Rua Maurício Dutra 303, Armação de Búzios, RJ) at the Manguinhos Beach. The race area is the bay in front of the Club, see Attachment 1. For more information visit: buziosvelaclube.br , or contact: bbllmm@hotmail 3.1 Conditions to be expected – winds 15-25 knots; water conditions: flat till up to 0.5 m waves; water temperature 20 degree celsius; air temperature 27/30 degrees Celsius 4 ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY 4.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 - Eligibility Code. 4.2 The regatta is open to boats of the Laser, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 Classes 4.3 Be born before March 1981 4.4 Be member of his/her National Laser Class association, affiliated to ILCA; 4.5 Be member of his/her Member national authority or one of its affiliated organizations 4.6 Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee payment confirmation, to [email protected], by 10.feb 2015 5 FEES 5.1 A non refundable entry fee of US$ 100,00 or R$ 250,00 is required to confirm entry 5.2 The entry fee can be paid: In cash, at the race Secretary, in Buzios Vela Clube’s Bank account- Banco Santander Agencia 2247 Conta Corrente 13000579-8 CNPJ 03.392.744/0001-97 Phone 55 21 98133-8783 6 SCHEDULE 6.1 Date Time Event March 20 0900-1300 Registration and Measurement March 20 1330 1430 Opening Ceremony and skippers meeting First possible warning signal March 21 1000 1700 First possible warning signal Churrasco March 22 1000 1530 First possible warning signal Prize giving 6.2 Six races are scheduled for each class 6.3 A maximum of 3 races per class can be sailed per day 6.4 The scheduled time for the first race of each day is 10:00, except in day 1 7 EQUIPMENT & EQUIPMENT INSPECTION - MEASUREMENT 7.1 It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to its Class Rules. 7.2 Each boat shall be available for the measurement inspection from 20.march.2015 at 9:00 until the end of protest time limit on 22.march.2015. Measurement and rules compliance inspections may be carried out throughout the championship before and after each race. 8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 8.1 Sailing Instructions will be available for each entrant, after completion of entry formalities. 8.2 Sailing Instructions also be available at the championship website, as soon as possible. 9 VENUE 9.1 The championship will be hosted at Buzios Vela Clube, located at Rua Mauricio Dutra 303, Manguinhos, Buzios, Brasil Zip Code 28950-000. 9.2 buziosvelaclube.br is the official Club’s website 9.3 Race area will be in front of the Club. 10 COURSES 10.1 The courses will be regular trapezoid, triangle, ou windward-leeward courses 10.2 The Sailing Instructions will bring course diagrams and definitions. 11 PENALTY SYSTEM 11.1 An International Jury will be appointed according to the RRS Appendix N. 11.2 Decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5 11.3 Appendix-P will apply, except for P5 12 SCORING 12.1 3 races for each class are required to be completed to constitute a class series 12.2 (a) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores (b) When 4 or more races heve been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worse score 13 SUPPORT BOATS 13.1 Team Leaders, Coaches and other support personnel shall stay outside areas where boats are or will be racing from the time orange flag is displayed until all boats of all classes have finished or the race committee signals a postponement or abandonment. To observe a race, support boats may move from leeward to windward through both sides of the course keeping well clear of the exclusion boundary, approximately 100 meters from the course area. When a race committee or jury member indicates a support boat to move further from the course area, the mentioned boat shall do so immediately. 14 BERTHING 14.1 From 20.march.2015 at 9:00 until 22.march.2015 while not in the water. Boats shall be kept in their assigned places at Buzios Vela Clube. 15 PRIZES 15.1 Prizes will be given for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd competidors in each class and division, as follow: (a) Overall-All competidors from a class; (b) Pre-master Division – Sailors aged between 35 and 44 years old; (c) Master Division – Sailors aged between 45 and 54 years old; (d) Grand-Master Division – Sailors aged between 55 and 64 years old; (e) Great-Grand- Master Division – Sailors aged 65 or older; 16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 16.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, decision to race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta. 17 ACCOMODATION 17.1 Pousadas are available all around Club’s area. Search for pousadas in Geribá or Manguinhos area. 18 BOATS FOR RENT 18.1 Boats will not be provided by the championship organization.
