OK read it now, know a little more about how the world works - wish I didn’t. Worse the book is clear on the fact that there is no jumping off point; you are either: participating, spectating or challenging. I guess most of us are challenging at the moment. The point, as Noam says, is: “The future can be changed. But we can’t change things unless we at least begin to understand them.” He also points out that “Speaking the truth to power makes no sense. [They] know it already. Instead, speak truth to the powerless, or, better, with the powerless. Then they’ll act to dismantle illegitimate power.” Quote of the day “marketing [of corporations] is organised deceit”. Fantastic. The book is a collection of essays and talks and I would not recommend buying it – borrow a copy – buy his major written works.
