ONE FINAL EDIT TO MY POST : Ill add one more caveat, if for no other reason than to bring Scott Strattens pulse down to safe levels again: If, over the next month or so, she hasnt shown herself to change her ways, and is still posting racist, inappropriate posts, then I take back this entire post. I guess I just like to try and find the best in people, no matter how badly theyve screwed up in the past. Original post: For the record, Id hire Justine Sacco for her next job, and heres why: 1) Shes a talented PR person who made one horrible, horrible mistake. (Edited: Yes: She had bad posts in the past - But do you REALLY ever think shell do anything like that again after this?) 2) For the rest of her life, shell be DAMN aware of what she posts, tweets, talks about in public, or even thinks. Shes experienced the hellfire and damnation of the Internet, and shes emerged tons wiser for it, I guarantee it. 3) Human beings have a ridiculously short attention span, and 99% of us have already forgotten about what she did. Additionally, this is a very inside baseball story - In other words, theres not one fan of Duck Dynasty who even knows who Justine Sacco is. 4) Last, but certainly not least, everyone deserves a second chance, and those who ask for forgiveness and prove that theyve learned from their mistakes, should get one. Again - On the record: If I was hiring a Corp Comms Director of a major publicly traded company, Id hire Justine Sacco. I guarantee you theres no out there right now who could ever be more trustworthy.
