ONE LAST PUSH FOR THE PROPOSED QC ORDINANCE ON GENDER-FAIR CITY (Prohibition on all Forms of Discrimination Against LGBT People in all Public Spaces in QC) The Association of Transgenders in the Philippines headed by Madam Kate Montecarlo Cordova and the Quezon City Pride Council were invited as resource speakers for the Committee on Laws Hearing of the QC Council for the proposed expanded anti-disrimination ordinance authored by Councilor Mayen Juico and co-authored by Councilors Doray Delarmente and Aly Medalla. Other resource speakers were Direk Soxie Topacio, Chairperson of QCPC, Direk Crisaldo Pablo, Atty. Clara Rita A. Padilla, National Youth Commissioner Perci Cendana, Anne Lim of GALANG and Ging Cristobal, Vice-Chairperson of QCPC and Project Coordinator of IGLHRC. The said ordinance, when passed, will cover discrimination against members of the LGBT community in all public spaces in QC and will provide penalties thereof. It also aims to institute a mechanism to foster a more conducive environment for equality and diversity. Thanks so much to Vice-Mayor Joy Belmonte for steering a swift lobby for the proposed local legislation. To all equality-loving people of QC, lets all support the immediate passage of this measure!!
