Odd question- Anyone familiar with the Texas Involuntary Mental Health Commitment? I need to know how long a hospital would be able to hold someone suicidal and mentally ill for treatment. Said person person was taken to the ER after a for real, not a cry for help, suicide attempt. In West Virginia they can be held on a three day psychiatric hold but I know it varies by state. I also need to know if a person who has power of attorney for the suicidal person would be able to commit them against their will. Ive found a bunch of sites that talk about it, but its still not really clear to me how it works for my scenario. Hope that makes sense, thanks!
