Pennsylvania is growing, and in the right places! Census estimates show that the states population has increased by about 9,300 more people than last year to 12,773,801. The major urban centers gained population while many rural counties continued to lose people. Philadelphia Countys population increased in 2013 to 1,553,165, a gain of about 4,500 and the most of any county in the state. Also, the population of Allegheny County increased by 1,615, now totaling 1,231,527. Cities need to sustain or grow their taxpayer base. Rural areas DO NOT need more suburban sprawl!
