Positive Thinking Tips – 10 of My Favourite Posted on July 18, 2013 positive thinkingI’m a busy mum of two teenage daughters, the wife of a wonderful husband and owner of a couple of horses who are my babies, oh and did I mention I also run 2 businesses full time business from home and this blog as well as running my hand at and learning something new every day. I just love to learn. But sometimes its really hard to stay positive especially with all the negativity in the world, so I have decided to heed my own advice share with you my own Positive Thinking Tips. You know as a mum you have house hold chores, your teenagers are having a crisis, your arguing with your husband and your horses are sick, you get complaints from your clients about something that is not quite right and all this before lunch. Negative thoughts and people can drain you of your physical and mental energy. Remember the more thought you give the negativity in your life the more powerful they become. With following my Positive Thinking Tips hopefully you can help stop the power of the negativity in your head and start the road to finding your own Positive Thinking Tips. POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 1 – Yoga and Meditation One of my all time favorite things to do, why because usually this is me time. The first thing I learnt to do was Yoga in which I learnt to also meditate. It takes the focus away from whats in my head and brings the attention to my breathing and poses. Yoga and meditation is extremely relaxing and helps me to calm my mind. It also helps me to stay focused on the present day things, instead of jumping into the future in the scenario of the “what could happen”. It has taught me that the only moment that matter is the now moment. ”Today always will be, Tomorrow never will be, yesterday never was”. This was something my dad used to always say to me that never quite made sense until I started Yoga. smilePOSITIVE THINKING TIPs 2 – Smile Now before you think “Are you serious?”. Yes I am, smile. It only takes 6 muscles to do it, its the easiest work out your face will do all day, stop frowning as this takes over 30 muscles, give your face muscles a break, don’t they deserve it? Now Im not saying go smile in public (although I do admit i do it and I like to see peoples reactions, it makes me feel good to see someone smile back at me) but why not smile at yourself in the mirror? Smiling is really good at changing your mood and relieving stress levels. POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 3 – Surround Yourself with Positive People This might seem obvious but look at your friends and family, who picks you up and has a positive outlook and who is always negative. Hang out with the people who are positive and uplifting they are the people who will keep you positive and usually healthy as well. POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 4 – Change Your Self Talk or the Way You Think to Yourself Now your probably thinking I have a million thoughts a day, this is impossible but really its like a game at first and then it will be like thinking on automatic pilot. Like instead of thinking “Oh no Today is going the be the worst day of the month” change your thinking to “Yes, Today is going to be awesome, we are going to have the best day of the month”. Make every negative into a positive. POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 5 – Take Responsibility This might seem obvious but is quite liberating. Instead of playing the victum, take responsibility for your actions POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 6 – Help Someone Do something nice for someone. Simple huh? Don’t complicate it it could be simple like helping an elderly lady or a pregnant mum with a baby in the pram at the shops with her shopping. Baking a tray of cookies for the local scouts or donating food for the Smith Family or Salvation army. Don’t overcomplicate it! POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 7 – Remember that You Are Not Perfect and Cut Yourself a Break This was probably the hardest for me to overcome as I am very self critical. It was very easy to dwell on your mistakes. Learn to recognise that you made it and forgive yourself, learn from it and then get over it. Its done remember what my dad said, ”Today always will be, Tomorrow never will be, yesterday never was”. SingingChildrenPOSITIVE THINKING TIPs 8 – Sing This is awesome, I love this, put on your favourite music piece, put it on loud if you have to, just put it on and sing, now matter what your mind set and how negative you are, your favourite song will always make you feel good. If it doesn’t work the first time, play it again…..and again…..and again till you smile. POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 9 – Live in an attitude of Gratitude What does this mean, well its really easy every morning and every evening while brushing my teeth before I go to bed I go through the things that I have been grateful for that day, for example, it could be that lovely client who thanked me for helping them, for all the cheques I got in the mail, for my children’s health and for the eyes being able to read this blog, you get the picture right. POSITIVE THINKING TIPs 10 – Read Positive Quotes Daily I always read positive quotes on a daily basis. If my friends ask me what I want for Christmas or birthday I ask them for a book of Inspirational or Positive quotes that way I can put them on my fridge or keep them on my desk or put them on my dresser, anywhere I spend some time so I can read them. Hopefully you use some or all of my tips but even if you only use 1 to start off with Im sure your life with change for the better, I know mine did. Remember “you reap what you sew” Jim Rohn, one of my favourite inspirational authors HAPPY THINKING!!!
