Posting for Marcia Stevens, Brainerd, MN QO I wanted to share a message I received from a case worker at a local mental health clinic. Ive already shared it with my volunteers, many of whom were moved to tears. QOV is alive and well in MN. Happy New Year! Marcia ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Brainerd MN QOV, On 12/20/14 I had the honor of giving one of your quilts of valor to a vet in the Tri County Hospital ED in Wadena. The young man presented as very angry and yet also feeling very misunderstood. Toward the end of my assessment I remembered the quilt you had given us at our staff meeting and asked the young man for permission to get him something. When I entered his room to give him the quilt, he first read the letter included with the quilt. I asked him if he would like me to put it in the bag and it would be sent in the ambulance with him when he went to the VA. He asked if he could keep it with him, which of course he did. When I got back to the nurses station and looked at the monitor, the young man was clutching the quilt to his chest and tears were streaming down his cheeks. It was a very moving experience, one that I will never forget. The man had calmed down considerably. Thank you so much for what your group does and thank you for allowing me to be part of the distribution process. Sincerely, Nancy Bernstetter LICSW Northern Pines Mental Health Center
