Received the following information from Jonnie Clasen this evening. Jonnie has been spearheading the campaign to Proclaim August 10, 2014 as National WWII Merrills Marauder Day. Everyone, Thanks to all of you, our volunteers ... we reached our objective during the July 4th weekend!!!!!!! Our volunteers ranged from Merrills Marauders to Merrills Marauders Proud Descendants, Rangers and the CSM Association, Special Forces, National Guard, other veterans and supportive citizens!!! THANK YOU!!!!!! We have contacts in ALL our states who emailed (a few going in tomorrow) proclamation request forms for their governors to declare August 10, 2014, as National WW II Merrills Marauder Day!!!! It wouldnt hurt to followup with a phone call to push this recognition through. Even if you didnt submit the request form for your state, you can still call the governors office. We have some other recognition requests underway for National WW II Merrills Marauder Day, hopefully including acknowledgement from England since the Marauders trained with the British A press release for your local media -- or to post on your website and use in other ways - will be emailed to all of you in the next few weeks, as we get closer to August 10, 2014.
