*** Review Time *** NTs rating for Two States : **1/2 Its proved that 90% of people fail to describe a relationship ... close to 5% dont know what a relationship is which leaves us with ONLY 5% who are masters in describing a relationship and expressing it!! Chetan Bhagat has mastered this art which was proved in 2009 when his book 2 States was released worldwide... Writing 260 odd pages to describe a relation is not an easy task but he managed it so well that many readers got involved with the story and am sure some learned the art too!! 4 Years later Abhiskek Varman (Director) decides to showcase this story in celluloid form..!! He did a decent job but in bits and pieces... Screenplay is as flat as a PANCAKE with music just on the border to bore you during the movie... Readers connection was relatively more compared to Viewers connection when we talk about attachment with the leads... Typical Indian Bollywood love stories need MASALA but this one is as bland as Clear Soup in an Udipi restaurant...Dialogues were average, background score hardly exists and acting was a let down (could be due to mentioned factors!!).. This time I tried my level best to concentrate on Alias performance but in vain (Baby Alia, when you are playing a typical South Indian character...you are expected to deliver your dialogues in that sweet flavored accent..) Hence, Alia did not impress me at all ... Arjun Kapoor was suppose to be spoil brat of a Delhi based Punjabi family...but he never seemed to be one although he tried to maintain a steady body language throughout the movie... (I would still rate him as better actor because I have seen prominent Parma, Aurangzeb and Bala in him) Amrita Singh (Arjuns mother) was spot on with her typical Punjabi antics and Ronit Roy (Arjuns father) was exceptional in his role...(am still wondering if this was really a guest appearance??) .. Shiv S (Alias father) was good in his lungis ... Message is very clear that your PARENTS love you no matter what we do!! Summary: Please skip if you have already read the book and if not .. Go for it*... *conditions apply Book was better - I heard this nearly 56 times during the movie - courtesy Jhanvi Pratik Vakharia (I agree is all that I could reply)
