Short Barreled Rifles and Shotguns: The Michigan House voted 103 - 6 to repeal the Michigan ban on SBRs and SBSs. The Michigan ban went into effect several years before they came under regulation by the federal government. The Michigan ban was a response to the Ossian Sweet verdict in 1925 in which a black man was found not guilty of shooting two members of a mob while defending his home. Detroit at the time was a KKK influenced city but Sweet was found not guilty by an all white jury. The Michigan House should be commended for moving to repeal this redundant and race inspired ban. Three blacks who represent Detroit voted to NOT repeal it: Banks, Stallworth, and Talabi. Banks, by the way, cant even legally own a firearm. If you dont like guns, you probably dont know your history. Stop supporting folks who do not respect your rights.
