■Skipping well-child visits raises hospitalization risk, study says A retrospective study showed children who missed half of their well-child doctor visits had up to double the risk of hospital admission for preventable reasons, compared with those who missed fewer than 25% of appointments. The study in the American Journal of Managed Care found children with a chronic condition had an even higher risk of preventable hospital admission if they missed the check-ups.
