Spring 2014 Policy Intern - Alliance for Peacebuilding The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is seeking a part-time Policy Intern for Spring 2014 to work at the intersection of the international peacebuilding field and US policy-making processes in Washington. This is an opportunity to learn about the peacebuilding field from the inside, with broad exposure to a wide variety of civil society organizations, government and military partners, and representatives from fields closely related to peacebuilding. The Policy Intern will engage with AfP’s network of partners both overseas and in Washington, learn about all of the latest news, events, jobs and research going on in the peacebuilding field, and will represent AfP at important events. The Alliance for Peacebuilding is a membership-based network of nearly eighty organizations and hundreds of professionals devoted to building sustainable peace and security worldwide. AfP’s Policymaker Engagement program brings the voices of local civil society-based peacebuilders overseas to inform key policy-shaping conversations in Washington. Summary: The Policy Intern will work directly with the Senior Program Manager for Policy to help coordinate meetings, plan events, research issues related to peacebuilding and U.S. policy, manage online communications, and provide general staff support on a range of projects. The ideal candidate will be a pro-active member of the policy team and help shape the substance of AfP’s policy programs to the extent possible. The internship (20–25 hrs/week) based in Washington will begin in mid-January and end in mid-May, 2014, and will accommodate a flexible schedule. Candidates who may be available to continue in the position through the summer are encouraged to apply.
