Summary For Lesson 1 The Heavenly Sanctuary Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. During this week the Lord reminded us of the importance of the sanctuary, the residence of God, to our eternal salvation. The Psmalist David said in Ps. 77:13, “Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?” A close examination of the sanctuary will reveal that it is a place where God dwells; a place where the sovereignty is demonstrated; a place where the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world is the centre of the worship session; a place where God judges the people of the earth and pronounce His final verdict; and a place where those who washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb will receive final cleansing from their unrighteousness and salvation from the penalty of their transgression. It is in the sanctuary that the love of God for mankind is displayed. At this very moment there is a worship session taking place in heaven where the twenty-four elders, angels and the four beasts continue to worship the Lamb. The Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the earth is worthy of worship. Right now in the heavenly sanctuary Jesus is ministering in the Most Holy Place. The cleansing of the sanctuary from the sins of transgressors is currently taking place in heaven. Jesus continues to petition the throne of grace on our behalf… He is presenting His blood as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. We are at the centre of the work that Jesus is currently doing in Heaven. He continues to make intercession for us. He is not willing that any one of us should perish but that we should all come to repentance. Can you image that while Jesus is spending all His time working on our behalf, some of us who know the truth continue to be distracted by the things of this world. Can you believe that while Jesus is ministering on our behalf in the heavenly sanctuary, some of us will go to church this morning and the focus of our worship will be SELF… Some of us will focus on our contribution to the worship session this morning while others will focus on what they have received from the worship.. Only a few will focus on worshipping the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.. And do you realize that while our motive and focus of our worship will not necessarily be correct, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world will still continue to intercede on our behalf. You see my friend, the intercession that Jesus continues to do on our behalf is not a function of how we behave. His intercession is a function of His character. God intercedes on behalf of all those make in His image because of His love for mankind. A wonderful savior is Jesus my Lord.. A wonderful Saviour to me. We serve an awesome God who is touch by the feeling of our infirmity because He was tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Jesus understands the struggles that we are going through right now. He understands the Spiritual warfare that plagues our soul even right now.. and He is working on our behalf so that we can receive eternal life. All we have to do is continue to surrender every moment of very day to the Holy Spirit so that He can lead us into the path of righteousness. We need to flee the very appearance of evil and spend time in the secret place of the most High God. In his presence there if fullness of joy. At His right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
