Thank you to everyone for supporting the Clubs involvement in the Rohilla Commemoration. We had a fabulous day welcoming the official guests on Friday, serving refreshments to more than 50 people who had attended the official opening ceremony for the Rohilla exhibition in the RNLI Museum below. Janet and I were run off our feet and would like to thank Eric Walton who stepped in to assist. Saturday was a fantastic and very busy day for the club. We were pleased to welcome the club patron, the Marquess of Normanby with his wife the Marchioness. They were very impressed with the club, the hospitality which we were providing to the RNLI event and with the warm welcome they received. We also welcomed many of the descendants of the survivors, victims and life-saving crew from the wreck, they had some fascinating stories to tell and had travelled from all over the globe to attend this event. Over the day I believe we extended a welcome, food and hospitality to more than 150 people. Many many thanks and congratulations to all the team for making this possible. Janet Linley, Sue Theaker and Liza Jarvis worked wonders with the food, Keith & Irene worked tirelessly too. The club looked absolutely at its best. Well done and thanks too to Nigel Robinson, Steve Eyre and Bob Theaker who took the boats out with the flotilla and enabled members and guests to experience the very moving ceremony at the wreck site. I am very proud that WYC was able to contribute in this way to the success of the commemorative events for the Rohilla Centenary. I am also very glad and happy that the yacht club was simultaneously making itself seen and heard in the harbour with the first of the Frostbiting series. A great weekend both on and off the water for WYC. Julia Drake
